What's new
You can now migrate your GraphComment discussions to a new domain directly from your back-office, without manual intervention. This feature is designed for publishers changing domain names while preserving their entire comment history.
How to use it
- Access the Domain Migration tab Go to your GraphComment back-office or the GraphComment tab in your WordPress admin (requires plugin version 4.2).
- Run an analysis Enter your old and new domains. GraphComment scans your site to identify all affected pages (e.g., www., blog., m., etc.). You receive a full report showing the number of pages and discussions to migrate, plus a list of detected domains.
- Select what to migrate All detected domains appear as checkboxes. Your source domain is locked (it must remain the reference). Check only the variants you want to migrate (e.g., www.yoursite.com or blog.yoursite.com). A real-time counter shows how many discussions will be transferred.
- Confirm and start the migration To finalize, retype your new domain and confirm you have set up a 301 redirect from the old to the new domain. The migration runs in the background. You can track progress in real time. During the operation, new comment publishing is paused for a few minutes to ensure data integrity.
FAQ
Is this feature available on all plans?
No. Domain migration is reserved for paid plans (Expert and Custom). On a free plan, the "Domain Migration" tab is visible but locked. To activate, upgrade your plan.
Do I need to do anything before starting the migration?
Yes. Ensure your new domain is properly configured and that a 301 redirect is in place from the old to the new domain. Without this redirect, the migration will not complete.
How long does a migration take?
Duration depends on the volume of discussions to migrate. GraphComment provides a real-time estimate during analysis. During the operation, new comment publishing is paused for a few minutes while the migration runs in the background.
What if I make a mistake when selecting domains to migrate?
You can rerun an analysis at any time before confirming the migration. Double-check the list of selected domains and migrate only legitimate variants.
